"Artistic Residence on Sunhoo, Hanghzou, China 2012"

Um pequeno busto em gesso comprado em Shangai permitiu-me pintar Mao Tsé-Tung "O Grande Timoneiro". Foi só pelo prazer.
As próximas cinco postagens são então referentes a trabalhos desenvolvidos durante o mês de Setembro de 2012 na residência artística em Sunhoo, Hanghzou, China.
Há ainda uma pintura não concluída, logo, não apresentada.

A small plaster bust bought in Shanghai allowed me to paint Mao Zedong "The Great Helmsman". It was just for the pleasure.
The next five posts are then related to work done during the month of September 2012 in the artistic residence in Sunhoo, Hanghzou, China.
There is still an unfinished painting, therefore, not presented.

"Red Lantern"

"Kung-Fu in the roof"

"Kung-Fu in the roof" é mais uma grande produção de Pedro Oliveira. Acho que nao ha muito mais a acrescentar sobre esta grande obra de arte.

"Chinese Factory"

Dos trabalhos que realizei na residência Chinese Factory é sem duvida o meu favorito. uma pequena pintura de 160x140cm que capta melhor do que qualquer outra a realidade da região onde estive. Tanto pelo próprio trato atabalhoado e de construção rápido da pintura como pela própria temática.

Of the works that I did at the residence Chinese Factory is undoubtedly my favorite. a small painting 160x140cm that captures better than any other the reality of the region where I have been. As much by the crude tract and fast construction of the painting as the subject itself.

Este foi o meu segundo trabalho na residência artística, o menos bem conseguido de todos... acho que ficou um pouco estranho de mais, mas pronto.

"Sporting's house in hangzhou"

Aqui está a minha primeira pintura feita em terras do sol nascente. Ainda numa tentativa de habituação à cor, ao clima, e aos sons. Um templo qualquer na cidade de Hanghou onde alterei as letras do painel. Aqui encontra-se escrito Sporting, em chines tradicional . Esta pintura tem a volta de 250x160cm.

Here is my first painting made in the lands of the rising sun. Still an attempt to getting used to the color, climate, and sounds. Some temple in the city of Hanghou where i only changed the letters of the panel. Here is Sporting written in traditional Chinese. This painting has arround 250x160cm.

"Back to Earth"

"Jogo de Xadrez"

Mais uma peça apresentada na exposição "O Golpe do Leão". Esta consiste num tabuleiro de xadrez, verde, e onde os quadrados do tabuleiro são definidos apenas por linhas brancas, simulando o relvado de um campo de futebol. As peças em vez de serem pretas e brancas são verde e brancas alusivas às cores do clube. Aqui, mais uma vez, o jogo está viciado, mas ao contrário do jogo de computador (onde existe claramente um desnivelamento entre as forças das equipas que se defrontam), aqui, no xadrez, o vencedor será sempre o Sporting, pois ganhando o verde ou o branco, ganhará o Sporting, que veste sempre essas duas cores.

"Chess game"
One more piece presented in the exhibition "The Lion Strike". This is a chess game, green, and where the squares of the board are defined only by white lines, simulating the turf of a football field. The pieces instead of being black and white are green and white depicting the club colors. Here, again, the game is rigged, but unlike the computer game (where there is clearly an unevenness between the forces of the teams ), here, in chess, the winner is always the Sporting, no matter who wins, the green or white, wins the Sporting, who always wears these two colors.

"Joana´s in the park"

Tem 100x100cm e é um retrato da Joana no Parque, como o próprio nome indica. É uma pintura que tenta pensar os propósitos do retrato na pintura contemporânea, e como tal, tem um certo numero de indicativos referentes que nos ajudam a reflectir sobre isso, nomeadamente o facto de ela estar a ler o livro "Work of art in the age of mechanical reproduction" de Walter Benjamin. Aqui tento acentuar a ideia de que, se com a fotografia, a pintura é liberta da representação do real, qual o sentido de continuar a retratar pessoas através do processo pictórico, quando através de um simples clic esse assunto fica resolvido?(por exemplo)

"Joana´s in the park"
It as 100x100cm and is a portrait of Joan in the Park, as its name indicates. It is a painting that tries to think the purpose of portraiture in contemporary painting, and as such has a certain number of indicators relating to help us reflect on this, including the fact that she was reading the book "Work of Art in the age of mechanical Reproduction "by Walter Benjamin. Here I try to accentuate the idea that, with the photograph, the painting is freed from the representation of reality, which to continue to portray people through the pictorial process when using a single click this issue is resolved? "Photoshop's do Pedro/Atletas do Sporting Clube de Portugal"

Aqui ficam dois exemplares da serie de photoshop's que fiz para a exposição "O Golpe do Leão" em Outubro de 2011. Estes dois foram escolhidos pois acho que são dos mais bem conseguidos e também porque os seleccionei para serem leiloados num dos leilões de arte na Electricidade Estética. Nesta serie peguei em varias personalidades do mundo Sporting, atletas, e pus a minha cara no corpo deles, assim, todos eles são eu, e eu sou todos eles. Nestes dois casos, o ciclista Joaquim Agostinho e o velocista Francis Obikwelu.

"Pedro's Photoshop / Athletes Sporting Clube de Portugal"
Here are two examples of the series of photoshop's I made for the exhibition "Lion Strike" in October 2011. These two were chosen because I think they are the most well done and also because they have been selected to be auctioned in the art auction in Electricity Aesthetics. In this series I took in several of the world Sporting personalities, athletes, and put my face on their bodies, so they are all me, and I'm all of them. In both cases, the rider Joaquim Agostinho and sprinter Francis Obikwelu.

"O Cordeiro de Deus"

Depois das enormes dimensões um trabalho mais pequeno mas pelo qual tenho muito apreço. Uma pintura de 100x100cm que retrata uma pacata vila alentejana, junto ao rio. Um cordeiro pasta e ao fundo, um OVNI puxa uma vaca para os céus.

"The Lamb of God"
After the huge dimensions a smaller work but I like it a lot (1oox100cm). A painting that depicts a  quiet Alentejo village near the river. A lamb is eating and far, a UFO is pulling a cow to the skies.

"O homem na Lua"

Passado alguns meses sem publicar nada, publico agora um dos meus mais recentes trabalhos. Uma Pintura intitulada de "O homem na Lua" com as dimensões de 400x420cm como podem ver. A minha presença ao lado é só mesmo para dar noções da escala, enquanto não arranjo uma fotografia melhor, sem mim. Ora, nesta pintura apresenta-se um homem na Lua, com o trem lunar de um lado e ventoinhas eólicas do outro. No centro, no reflexo do seu capacete, esvoaça a bandeira do Sporting. Esta pintura esteve exposta este mês de Janeiro no CCC, nas Caldas da Rainha, na exposição de defesas de tese de Mestrado. Publicarei entretanto nos meus escritos a "Apresentação de Defesa de Tese e prefacio da Componente Escrita da Tese" onde falo um bocado do meu processo de trabalho e das minhas preocupações.

"Man on the Moon"
After a few months without posting anything, i publish now one of my most recent works. A painting titled "Man on the Moon" with the dimensions of 400x420cm as you can see. My presence at the side is just right to give you notions of scale, while not score a better photograph, without me. However, this painting presents a man on the moon with the lunar train on one side and on the other wind fans. In the center, reflecting on his helmet, flutters the flag of Sporting. This painting was exposed this month of January in the CCC, in Caldas da Rainha, in the statement of defense of the Master thesis. In the meanwhile i will publish my writings in the "Presentation of Thesis Defense and preface of Component Writing Thesis" where I talk a lot of my work process and of my concerns.

"Pedro Oliveira Team VS Grandes Artistas Team"

Esta instalação consiste na apresentação de um jogo de computador. Este é um jogo de futebol virtual onde o espectador é convidado a participar. Existem duas equipas criadas por mim, A Pedro Oliveira Team e a Grandes Artistas Team, o objectivo como é óbvio é jogar e vencer o adversário. O Problema aqui é o jogo estar viciado a favor de Pedro Oliveira Team e quem jogar com Pedro Oliveira ganhar certamente aos Grandes Artistas.

Este trabalho foi apresentado assim com está, em conjunto com mais uns quantos trabalhos na minha exposição "O Golpe do Leão", dentro do ciclo de exposições "Os Mestres do Kung-fu" que aconteceu em Outubro de 2011 no espaço "Electricidade Estética" (ir ao link referente em ligações amigas para ver mais fotos da exposição), nas Caldas da Rainha.

O objectivo dessa exposição foi recriar uma sala de uma associação recreativa e para além do jogo, existia também um jogo de xadrez, uma prateleira com medalhas do meus feitos desportivos e toda uma panóplia de adereços que ajudavam a recriar o espaço, desde cartazes e recortes de jornais a pinturas, fotografias etc...

"Pedro Oliveira Team VS Greatest Artists Team"

This installation consists in the presentation of a computer game. This is a virtual football game where the viewer is invited to participate. There are two teams set up by myself, Pedro Oliveira Team  and  Greatest Artists Team, the aim is obviously to play and beat the opponent. The problem here is that the game is vitiate to Pedro Oliveira Team and who play with Pedro Oliveira certainly win the Greatest Artists. This work was presented like this , together with some more works in my exhibition "The Lion Strike", inside the cycle of exhibitions "The Masters of Kung-fu" that happened in October 2011 in the "Electricity Aesthetics" (go to link Electricidade Estética    to see more photos of the exhibition), in Caldas da Rainha. The aim of this exhibition was to recreate a room and a recreation association and in addition to the game, there was also a chess game, a shelf with medals  ​​of my sporting achievements  and a whole panoply of props that helped to recreate the space, from posters and cutouts newspapers to paintings, photographs, etc ...

"Yanick Jah Love"

Outra das minhas novas criações que assim como a pintura anterior relaciona não só os modelos futebolísticos com a organização da sociedade como os eleva ao estatuto de deuses. A base do plinto tem (25cm x 25cm x 120cm) o que da para dar uma ideia do busto. Este foi comprado em gesso e pintado por mim!

"Yanick Jah Love"
Another of my new creations as well as the earlier painting relates not only the football models    with the organization of the society but raise its to the status of gods. The base of the plinth is (25cm x 25cm x 120cm) what gives an idea of the bust. This was purchased in plaster and painted by me!

"As costas da camisola suada do Yordanov na final da Taça de Portugal de 1994/95"

Passado algum tempo sem postar nada no blog devido ao desenvolvimento da componente escrita da tese de Mestrado em Artes Plásticas apresento agora uma das minhas novas criações. Uma pintura de (200cm x 300cm) que representa o que o próprio titulo indica. Cada vez mais o universo da mitologia futebolística se vem relacionando com o da criação artística e daí uma analise critica aos modelos de organização da nossa sociedade.

"The back of Yordanov's  sweater sweaty  Portugal's Cup final   1994/95"
After some time without posting anything on the blog due to the development of the written component of the Master thesis in Fine Arts I present now one of my new creations. A painting (200cm x 300cm) which is what the title itself indicates. Increasingly the world of football mythology comes to relating with the artistic creation, and hence a critical analysis of models of organization of our society.

"O Homeostático"

"O homeostático", como o próprio nome indica é uma parodia. Uma parodia à arte e ao seu sistema (nomeadamente em Portugal) e ao próprio Homem enquanto potencial ser criador e construtor de um mundo novo. Como é óbvio o nome não é casual tendo visivelmente um duplo sentido, uma citação ao grupo homeostética, às suas reflexões e á relação das suas actividades com o momento actual em que vivemos, onde existe um homem-estático ou melhor, um "parecido com" estático na nossa sociedade e no mundo da arte. Assim o homem continua estagnado na antiguidade no passado, mas, ao invés da clássica, este, cobre os genitais, censurando-se e castrando a sua própria evolução.

"The homeostatic"
"The homeostatic" as the name suggests is a parody. A parody to art and its system (particularly in Portugal) and the man himself  as a potential creator and builder of a new world. Obviously the name is not accidental visibly taking a double meaning, a citation to the group Homeostética, their reflections and their activities are compared with the present time we live in, where there is a man-static or rather a "looks like "static in our society and in the art world. So the  man still stuck in the past, but instead of the classic, this covers the genitals, castrating censoring themselves and their own evolution.
